*Presses record* Dear David, I sat down at this table in the kitchen, the one with many family memories, and I ponder what it is I’m most thankful for.  Do you know?  You should press pause on the tape and take some guesses and then press play once you’ve hurt your brain guessing. I have a lot of accomplishments.  You know that.  I’m sure everyone tells you how proud of me you should be.  How proud that one day you’ll be just like me.  I’m glad you’re not. During my senior year I was the captain of the football team and the baseball team.  

I wanted to learn how to hate you especially in the moments you blaze through me so ferociously I'm all spent before my lungs can remember how to e x p a n d . But maybe I was too busy wondering if you hated me every single time you turned an aloof cicada-sung gaze on my lone whimsies. I never meant to fall in love with you because I thought the intoxicating intensity of your caresses was l i g h t y  e  a  r  s a   w   a   y from anything my r/u/n/a/w/a/y soul deserved.
